For nearly a decade, Darling has built, led, and served alongside her sisters in Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. — the foundation that taught her how to build everything else.
Before there was a publishing house, before there were companies, before there was a debut novel — there was a chapter room full of Latina women who taught Darling what it actually meant to build something that lasts.
Lambda Theta Alpha is where she learned to chair a meeting, hold a budget, present a chapter to nationals, and walk into a room of decision-makers in DC carrying a community's policy positions. It's where she learned that leadership is service, and that the work doesn't count unless the next generation can pick it up.
Almost a decade in, she's still showing up — as Pledge Mistress, as Chapter Secretary, as a Hill Days advocate, as Sister of the Year. Not because she has to. Because the sisterhood is the proof that the rest of it works.
In April 2026, Darling was selected for Cohort 10 of Lambda Hill Days — Lambda Theta Alpha's competitive national advocacy program — for a two-day legislative initiative in Washington, D.C.
Working alongside national leaders and the National Political Education Initiative Committee, she engaged in direct lobbying with Congressional offices, advocating on behalf of the Latina community on the issues that shape its future:
Recognition from the sisterhood — at the area level and the national level — for service, leadership, and community impact.
Nearly a decade of chapter, area, and national service — building the systems and structures that make the sisterhood run.
Managed all official chapter communications, records, and documentation. Maintained meeting minutes, tracked attendance, and ensured compliance with national reporting requirements. Coordinated internal communications between leadership and members and supported event planning across chapter initiatives.
Launched the inaugural national Alumnae Newsletter in PDF format. Acted as primary coordinator between alumnae affairs committees and the Alumnae Director, managed meeting minutes for all alumnae affairs meetings, and served as liaison for the Engagement Coordinator position.
Presided over chapter and board meetings. Oversaw committees and event execution, ensured the chapter and officers fulfilled their responsibilities, and built the Alpha Rho website. Submitted chapter paperwork, supported the Newsletter committee, participated in the national Alumnae chapter series, and hosted a webinar on money management awareness.
Led PMing and APMing for three orientation classes. Created a series of templates that brought structure and consistency to the orientation process. Oversaw four chapters, ensured paperwork compliance and event execution, and founded the area's political committee to educate sisters on causes affecting the LatinX community.
Pledge administration is where leadership becomes legacy. Each of these lines is a generation of sisters Darling helped shape and welcome into the sisterhood.
We need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated they can be humble, so fierce they can be compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.
For sorority engagements, advocacy collaborations, and Latina-focused speaking opportunities — Darling welcomes the conversation. The sisterhood opens doors that stay open for everyone behind us.
